The theme of the present work, ASurvey of Post-Sankara Advaita Vedanta is a very wide one and hencethe Enquiry has been restricted to the salient features of Advaita;for example, the problems regarding the Jiva and his relation withBrahman, the nature of Avidya, the nature of the world, etc. It hasbeen divided into six chapters. The First chapter takes up abird’s eye-view of PreSankara Advaita and also contains thephilosophy of Sankaracarya in brief as developed out ofGaudapada’s work. The second chapter is devoted to earlier Advaitaas dealt with by the immediate pupils of Sankaracarya and Vacaspatiand a short note on the three Vadas (Adhasa, Avaccheda, thePratibimba) is added here to show the development of Advaita.Chapter III takes stock of the Advaitins of 9th to 14th centuries,a period which saw further enrichment and original addition ofAdvaita. Chapter IV summarises the later advaita comprising 14th to18th centuries which was, so to say, a sort of stagnation period.In all these chapters only important authorities in Advaita havebeen dealt with and the rest are reserved for Chapter V, whereinthe first part contains a short description of some more big namesin Advaita while the second consists of a list of all the minorAdvaitins with their works. The Last Chapter rounds off the workwith a connected survey of the whole work. About the Author Dr. Rabindra Kumar Panda, the editor of the present work isworking at present as a lecturer in the Department of Sanskrit,Pali & Prakrit, Faculty of Arts, M.S. University of Baroda,Gujrat. He has studied Sanskrit in both traditional as well asmodern methods. He has received the degrees-Sastri, 1982. SadashivaKendriya Sanskrit College, Acharya, 1984 and Visistacharya, 1986,Sri Jaganatha Sanskrit University, Puri, Orissa with first classdistinction securing Gold Medals, Prizes Merit Scholarships.
